Video server P4504 has four video inputs (BNC) for connecting analog camera (PAL or NTSC). Additional four analog outputs (BNC) allow to transmit the original signals to another device, e.g. a DVR. The video server is also equipped with four audio inputs (jack) for connecting microphones. Both the video and audio are digitalized, compressed and formed into packets, with parameters ensuring DVD quality. The three built-in LEDs inform the user about power, recording , and playback status. DIP switch at the rear panel allows to set TV standard (PAL/NTSC), the reset button allows to restore default settings. The device is also equipped with:
- 12VDC power jack,
- RJ45 network connector with two LEDs (network status, transmission),
- RCA - AUDIO OUT,
- two BNC and one S-Video output - for connecting up to three monitors,
- two USB 2.0 ports - for connecting USB devices,
- RS485 interface (terminal strip) - interface for PTZ cameras,
- four alarm inputs (terminal strip),
- four alarm outputs (terminal strip).
P4504 can stream digital video compressed by MPEG-4 (SP, ASP) or MJPEG algorithms, in Full D1 resolution (720x576 PAL, 720x480 NTSC), at 25fps PAL / 30fps NTSC (four channels; 6.25fps PAL, 7.5fps NTSC for each channel). Image resolution can be reduced to Half D1 or CIF format. At a moment sound can be transmitted from one of the four channels.
The parameters are the same in the case of remote playback of archives from hard drive of the video server. In each video format the user can set compression level which influences image quality and bandwidth requirements. Additionally, in MPEG-4 format it is possible to choose CBR or VBR option and change advanced Group of Picture (GOP) settings. The MPEG-4 streaming uses RTSP protocol.

Configuration options of the embedded firmware::
- basic image parameters and compression options (resolution, quality, MPEG4 profile, GOP size);
- advanced image parameters and compression options set according to a schedule (daytime, nighttime, weekend):

- change of frame rate (interchangeably - max 6.25 fps for both streams),
- MPEG-4:
- choice of kind of bitrate:
- Constant Bitrate (CBR) - from 64kbps to 4Mbps (influences quality of image),
- Variable Bitrate (VBR) - choice among 27 quality levels (actual bitrate depends on variability of the scene and the chosen quality level),
- GOP size,
- MPEG-4 profile (ASP,SP),
- MPEG-4 settings according to a schedule,
- MJPEG (only substream):
- choice among 90 quality levels,
- main schedule settings,

Due to analog video outputs P4504 can provide from each channel Full D1 video (720x576 PAL, 720x480 NTSC) to CCTV monitors, with frame rate of 25fps (PAL) or 30fps (NTSC) distributed among four channels (single channel: 6.25fps PAL or 7.5fps NTSC). Image resolution can be reduced to Half D1 or CIF.
If the monitor is equipped with audio, its input can be connected to the line output of the video server (AUDIO OUT). At any moment sound can be transmitted only from one channel.
The parameters are the same in the case of remote playback of archives from hard drive of the video server. The MAIN monitor output provides full screen image from each camera or screen split into four subimages from four cameras. Played back video can be displayed simultaneously from four channels, with live monitoring of four channels. The CALL monitor output provides only sequential preview of individual cameras.
P4504 can record images in MPEG-4 (SP, ASP) compression, with Full D1 resolution (each channel, 720x576 PAL or 720x480 NTSC), with frame rate of 25fps (PAL) or 30fps (NTSC) distributed among four channels (single channel: 6.25fps PAL or 7.5fps NTSC). Image resolution can be reduced to Half D1 or CIF. Audio can be recorded from all four channels.
