The Pixord P4504 video server converts analog video/audio signals from four cameras into IP packets that are transmitted as data stream through any computer network.
The main applications include professional video surveillance systems (in businesses, offices, stores, shopping molls, industrial plants, bank, government buildings, housing developments, houses etc.) based on IP networks.
Capabilities of PiXORD P4504 video server:
  • integration with any IP video surveillance system,
  • live preview of images from 4 cameras via Internet Explorer from any place in the world,
  • control via IE from any place in the world,
  • application of https protocol (encrypted connection),
  • availability of 4 analog signals (BNC outputs) in parallel to IP interface,
  • possibility of connecting 3 monitors (two main monitors - via BNC and/or S-Video, allowing preview of individual or all cameras, displaying status and OSD menu, and one auxiliary monitor - via BNC, providing sequential preview of the channels) and audio path (RCA output),
  • remote recording of video and sound on remote computer (via IE),
  • remote preview of image with VLC or Quick Time Player,
  • recording of still pictures (JPEG or BMP) captured from the video viewed via IE,
  • Dual Streaming mode,
  • automatic transmission adjustment (kind of stream (VBR, CBR), quality/bitrate, frame rate), and/or according to a schedule (daytime, night, weekend),
  • connection of four analog PTZ cameras via RS485 or RS 232 port and control of their functions (pan/tilt/zoom), using Lilin, PELCO-D, PELCO-P, or DynaColor protocol,
  • appropriate action after motion or loss of video has been detected:
    • sending short AVI files to an ftp server,
    • sending short AVI files as e-mail attachment,
    • activation of alarm output,
  • local recording on hard drive (IDE) or USB device,
  • copying data from hard drive to USB device,
  • backup,
  • remote playback of data from hard drive or USB device.
Video server P4504 has four video inputs (BNC) for connecting analog camera (PAL or NTSC). Additional four analog outputs (BNC) allow to transmit the original signals to another device, e.g. a DVR. The video server is also equipped with four audio inputs (jack) for connecting microphones. Both the video and audio are digitalized, compressed and formed into packets, with parameters ensuring DVD quality. The three built-in LEDs inform the user about power, recording , and playback status. DIP switch at the rear panel allows to set TV standard (PAL/NTSC), the reset button allows to restore default settings. The device is also equipped with:
  • 12VDC power jack,
  • RJ45 network connector with two LEDs (network status, transmission),
  • two BNC and one S-Video output - for connecting up to three monitors,
  • two USB 2.0 ports - for connecting USB devices,
  • RS485 interface (terminal strip) - interface for PTZ cameras,
  • four alarm inputs (terminal strip),
  • four alarm outputs (terminal strip).
P4504 can stream digital video compressed by MPEG-4 (SP, ASP) or MJPEG algorithms, in Full D1 resolution (720x576 PAL, 720x480 NTSC), at 25fps PAL / 30fps NTSC (four channels; 6.25fps PAL, 7.5fps NTSC for each channel). Image resolution can be reduced to Half D1 or CIF format. At a moment sound can be transmitted from one of the four channels.
The parameters are the same in the case of remote playback of archives from hard drive of the video server. In each video format the user can set compression level which influences image quality and bandwidth requirements. Additionally, in MPEG-4 format it is possible to choose CBR or VBR option and change advanced Group of Picture (GOP) settings. The MPEG-4 streaming uses RTSP protocol.
Configuration options of the embedded firmware::
  • basic image parameters and compression options (resolution, quality, MPEG4 profile, GOP size);
  • advanced image parameters and compression options set according to a schedule (daytime, nighttime, weekend):
    • change of resolution (individually for each stream),
    • change of frame rate (interchangeably - max 6.25 fps for both streams),
    • MPEG-4:
      • choice of kind of bitrate:
        • Constant Bitrate (CBR) - from 64kbps to 4Mbps (influences quality of image),
        • Variable Bitrate (VBR) - choice among 27 quality levels (actual bitrate depends on variability of the scene and the chosen quality level),
      • GOP size,
      • MPEG-4 profile (ASP,SP),
      • MPEG-4 settings according to a schedule,
    • MJPEG (only substream):
      • choice among 90 quality levels,
  • main schedule settings,
  • image settings:
    • brightness, contrast, saturation, blockade of chosen analog output, OSD settings (date, camera name),
  • PTZ settings (individual for each camera):
    • on/off,
    • protocol (Lilin, PELCO-D, PELCO-P, DynaColor),
    • choice of ID,
    • choice of speed,
  • OSD settings,
  • event settings,
  • alarm action settings after motion detection, activation of alarm input, loss of video signal (independent for each channel),
  • defining motion detection area (independent for each channel),
  • settings of alarm outputs,
  • remote reading of channel information incl. audio settings,
  • automatic synchronization of date and time with NTP server or manual setting,
  • defining user hierarchy (administrator, operator, user),
  • advanced settings of COM port (independent for each channel),
  • remote restart and restoration of default settings,
  • information on channel and system status,
  • virtual remote controller,
  • assignment of IP address from DHCP server or insertion of static parameters (IP address, subnetwork mask, default gateway, DNS server), MAC address reading, choice of communication protocol (HTTP, HTTPS), change of standard camera ports (port 80 - http, port 443 - https) and MPEG-4 stream (port 554 - RTSP),
  • DynDNS settings
  • assignment of e-mail account and target e-mail address for sending e-mails with AVI attachments or event information,
  • assignment of FTP server for sending short AVI files,
  • PPPoE settings,
  • hard drive/USB storage device settings,
  • image rotation,
  • deinterlacing function.
Due to analog video outputs P4504 can provide from each channel Full D1 video (720x576 PAL, 720x480 NTSC) to CCTV monitors, with frame rate of 25fps (PAL) or 30fps (NTSC) distributed among four channels (single channel: 6.25fps PAL or 7.5fps NTSC). Image resolution can be reduced to Half D1 or CIF.
If the monitor is equipped with audio, its input can be connected to the line output of the video server (AUDIO OUT). At any moment sound can be transmitted only from one channel.
The parameters are the same in the case of remote playback of archives from hard drive of the video server. The MAIN monitor output provides full screen image from each camera or screen split into four subimages from four cameras. Played back video can be displayed simultaneously from four channels, with live monitoring of four channels. The CALL monitor output provides only sequential preview of individual cameras.
P4504 can record images in MPEG-4 (SP, ASP) compression, with Full D1 resolution (each channel, 720x576 PAL or 720x480 NTSC), with frame rate of 25fps (PAL) or 30fps (NTSC) distributed among four channels (single channel: 6.25fps PAL or 7.5fps NTSC). Image resolution can be reduced to Half D1 or CIF. Audio can be recorded from all four channels.
OSD menu is displayed via analog MAIN monitor output, or is accessible remotely through virtual controller (when the output is connected to the input of one of the channels). OSD menu, similarly to remote access via a computer, allows to display server status, playback archives, configure the device. Configuration options of OSD menu:
  • recording - resolution, schedule, image quality, advanced settings of picture parameters according to schedule, GOP size, MPEG-4 profile, audio, Dual Stream settings,
  • settings of cameras (of individual channels) - brightness, contrast, saturation, hue (NTSC), PTZ parameters, camera name, blockade of a camera on monitor output, time, other information,
  • alarm settings after motion detection, activation of alarm input, loss of video signal
  • monitor settings,
  • system settings - language, audio parameters, firmware settings, date and time, access rights, COM settings, drive settings,
