ULTIAIR has been designed for creating efficient wireless IP CCTV and ISP networks.
ULTIAIR devices are characterized by short delays and high throughput. They can be managed via WinBox utility or telnet. They operate in unlicensed 5GHz band - no special permissions are needed. The devices can operate as client or base stations.
The RouterBoard with Mikrotik system has been put in outdoor housing of IP 66 class, which guarantees full protection against adverse weather conditions and corrosive environments (industry).

Un mare avantaj al echipamentelor ULTIAIR este versatilitatea lor.
ULTIAIR devices are perfect for creating effective systems of city monitoring. ULTIAIR family allows to build both the backbones of the systems and wireless access networks. The unique versatility of the devices is based on the implemented Linux software that allows different applications, from simple point-to-point links, indispensable in extensive IP video surveillance systems, to very sophisticated systems of data transmission.
The information coded in model number of ULTIAIR devices - example:
ULTIAIR 419KC
Mikrotik license level | Antenna gain | Antenna directivity | Intended use |
3,4 | 17, 19, 23 | K, S, D | C, N, B |
3 3rd level | 17 17 dBi | K Directional | C Client |
4 4th level | 19 19 dBi | S Sector | N Nstream |
23 23 dBi | D Omnidirectional | B Base station | |
The difference consists in the number of supported protocols and modes of work. It is shown in the table above (License levels). | Higher gain enables transmission over longer distance | The exact angles are available in specifications of every ULTIAIR device. | C For P2P connections. N Very efficient transmission. B For base stations. |
The devices can operate in several modes:

Wireless video surveillance system
CCTV systems based on IP technology, equipped with IP cameras, become more and more popular. It is due to simple installation and configuration of the systems. Very often the distances between buildings are too large for using wired links (FTP cable). A simple solution is wireless transmission based on ULTIAIR devices.

The devices are ideal for transmitting images from megapixel cameras
The resolution of analog video is limited by TV standards (PAL, NTSC) - for PAL the maximum is 720 x 576 pixels. Such limits do not apply to IP systems equipped with megapixel cameras. Their images can be enlarged ten or more times (depends on the actual resolution), still preserving details needed e.g. for identification purposes.
Many experts think that megapixel cameras will soon replace PTZ devices, especially in city video surveillance systems. ULTIAIR equipment, with throughput up to 54 Mb/s, perfectly solves the problem of data transmission. Wireless solutions can considerably lower the costs of implementing these modern systems. They eliminate the need of building cable infrastructure (e.g. the cables from the cameras to the monitoring center, even several kilometers long). The cameras are connected to ULTIAIR devices, the monitoring center - also equipped with a ULTIAIR device - receives the data wirelessly.

Both for the transmission of video stream and PTZ commands there can be used access points integrated with antennas, powered with the use of PoE technology. There may be employed sector antennas that will create easily manageable sectors.
Example city surveillance system based on ULTISYSTEM

ULTISYSTEM - IP CCTV system for cities
The diagram below presents a solution based on ULTISYSTEM software, ULTIAIR access points and ACTi IP cameras. The system can be expanded by using different modes of operation of the ULTIAIR devices (to be continued in next issues). The system can utilize some cameras of local monitoring systems based on ULTIMAX DVRs and analog cameras.
