Optics is ruling. DVD drives, which hasn't had enough time to settle down for good yet , suddenly we are introduced to new Blu-Ray drives. The Blu-Ray drives use single-layer disks with a storage capacity of 25 GB and dual-layer disks capable of storing up to 50 GB. This was possible thanks to the blue-laser technology different from traditional red-laser used in DVD's. Samsung has shown the first Blu-ray disc drive BD P-1000.

MP3 players with Flash EEPROM memory have become very common. Now it is a high time to see players with a built-in hard disk. These machines have the same functionality as the Flash memory players, but occasionally there pop additional functions like a capability of reading files with .OGG extension. The mobile phones have also been equipped with hard disks, they are CDMA 2000 of course. Samsung showed a phone with a camera and 1.5 GB hard disk, capable of playing movies in MPEG-4 format with a TV output.

A real problem of our times is how to defend ourselves from the influx of information – at ICT fair this problem is especially visible.
