Terra TDQ-480 R81643 DVB-S/S2 to DVB-T transmodulator is used for reception of DVB-S/S2 (8PSK/QPSK) signals, selection of desired channels and retransmission of them in DVB-C (QAM) format in chosen RF channels. The device allows the user to receive and manage a range of free to air satellite channels. One TDQ-480 R81643 panel can receive channels from eight satellite transponders and convert them into two groups of four neighboring DVB-C multiplexes (with freely selected content), each with maximum throughput of 53 Mbps. In practice, each of the eight multiplexes can carry over ten HD channels. The administrator of the system selects the required channels from the satellite streams and creates eight DVB-C multiplexes. In each case, it is neceeesary to remember about 10% safety margin when determining the maximum bit rate for the whole multiplex (typically the ultimate bit rate of a multiplex should not exceed 48 Mbps). The output DVB-C QAM multiplexes are usually distributed to users by a passive network composed of RF splitters/taps. Such a solution is especially convenient in modern hotel TV systems distributing a variety of satellite channels, including HD broadcasts.
Thanks to RJ-45 Ethernet port, the programming of the TDQ-480 R81643 panel is performed via a web browser.
TDQ-480 R81643 unit is dedicated for receiving FTA satellite channels. In the case of encrypted channels, the suitable model is TDQ-420C R81639.
A great advantage of the Terra device is easy integration with other components:
  • dSCR/Unicable multiswitches, allowing for independent distribution of DVB-S/S2 channels via one coaxial cable;
  • TTQ-440 R81622 DVB-T to DVB-C transmodulator, used for reception of DVB-T/T2 signals from four multiplexes and retransmission of them in QAM format in four DVB-C multiplexes;
  • IPTV streamers for management and distribution of satellite, terrestrial and cable DVB channels within Ethernet (LAN) networks based on twisted-pair cabling;
  • optical transmitters for transmission of TV programming via optical links;
  • other receiving and signal processing devices (broadband and channel amplifiers, analog and digital modulators).
The R81643 units can be mounted on the R82538 or R82539 DIN rail (also in a RACK cabinet) and powered from DR-60-12 R82532 or UP413 R82533 power supply.

TDQ-480 R81643 transmodulator creates eight DVB-C multiplexes with channels freely selected from eight satellite transponders. The maximum bandwidth of each of the eight DVB-C multiplexes is 53 Mbps.

An example of SMATV system. Thanks the application of the SRM-521 R80521 multiswitch, the system can distribute satellite channels selected from the whole Ku band (11.7 ... 12.75 GHz).
