Horizon HD-S2 R10812 is the latest generation measuring device used to test satellite signals broadcast in DVB-S (QPSK) and DVB-S2 (QPSK, 8PSK, APSK, DSS) standards.
This means that it can measure parameters of signals from transponders broadcasting High Definition channels. European operators of satellite platforms are increasingly turning to the more cost-effective DVB-S2 standard. It is only a matter of time when popular meters for QPSK modulation will not have any use.

Similarly to other Horizon devices, the menu is clear, intuitive, and easily navigable. The meter allows to measure signal level, Carrier-to-Noise (C/N) ratio, Bit Error Rate (BER), and show signal spectrum, constellation diagram, Modulation Error Ratio (MER). The device generates DiSEqC signal and can be operated in any lighting conditions (due to back-lit LCD display).

The user can load a list of satellites/transponders into the memory of the meter. The list is available at this site. After following the instructions from that site, the user can save the list on the PC as an .exe file. The file can be then copied to the memory of the meter without an additional software.
The measurements made with the meter can be recorded on a PC using Horizon Log Reader utility. The files can be saved in CSV format and read by all the popular office suites.
Notice!!!
- if the meter is to be unused for a period longer than 2 weeks, disconnect the battery by taking out the plug under the flap in the meter housing,
- the first charge of the battery must be carried out at least for 24 hours.
The fully charged battery of the device allows for approximately 6 hours of operation.
