SMATV systems based on multiswitches are multi-cable installations, with different signals in each cable and long cable sections (up to hundred or so meters, depending on the size of the multifamily building). So, there is a risk of crosstalk effects (inducing interference in neighbor cables) that would deteriorate the performance of such systems. To avoid crosstalk between coaxial cables going in parallel, they should fulfill requirements for A, A+ or A++ class. i.e. guarantee appropriate shielding effectiveness (or screening efficiency). Another feature of a high quality coaxial cable is low insertion loss. The risk of using cheap, low quality cables is too big - potential necessity of exchanging the cabling, even at the stage of starting up the system.
In HFC/CATV networks providing access to the Internet, the important feature of a coaxial cable is low transfer impedance in the return channel band.

  • TRISET PROFI E1010 cable has been designed for broadband networks. Due to its construction (double foil, tinned copper braid with a high degree of coverage), it ensures very high screening efficiency in the return channel band, defined in the 5-30 MHz frequency range as transfer impedance, below 0.9 mΩ/m. This feature is especially important in HFC/CATV networks providing access to the Internet.

Screening efficiency (Screening Attenuation) [dB] – is one of the most important parameters describing the properties of signal transmission cables. To classify a cable, the measured values are compared with requirements contained in the relevant standard. Screening efficiency shows how many times the signal coming out from the inside of the cable (penetrating the shielding layers and measured outside them) is attenuated compared to the transmitted signal, or vice versa (the attenuation ratio of an outer electromagnetic field).
In the lowest frequency range used in antenna systems (5-30 MHz), the measure of screening efficiency is transfer impedance expressed in [mΩ/m], so given per unit length of the cable. This parameter is essential for cables used in CATV systems with return path, using this frequency range for Internet services.

  • TRISET-113 HF E1019_500 is dedicated for use in community and cable TV installations. The cable is made in HF (halogen free) technology so it is suitable for building installations in schools, hospitals, public buildings. In the case of fire, the cable is flame retardant and emits little smoke, the emitted gases are not corrosive. TRISET-113 HF E1019 cable is compliant with the following standards:
    • IEC 60332-1, EN 60332-1 - tests on electric and optical fiber cables under fire condition
    • IEC 60754-1, EN 50267-2-1 - halogen content test
    • IEC 60754-2, EN 50267-2-2 - determination of acidity of gases evolved during combustion
